Is Herbal Essence Good For Curly Hair – Herbal Essences has always been a brand I never embraced for shampoos and conditioners as I felt it wasn’t for our hair types. I had great experiences with their Bee Strong Hair Mask and Leave In Conditioner, but since both were discontinued, I had no real reason to go back. I was browsing the Superdrug website every week, I noticed that Herbal Essences had come out with a brand new range called Bio Renew. They are all created with a blend of antioxidants, aloe and algae, which are great for keeping your hair healthy. It also does not contain parabens, silicones, gluten or dyes, which is great for my hair as it can sometimes dry out my curls.
I chose White Strawberry and Sweet Mint for two reasons: 1. I’m obsessed with anything strawberry scented and 2. It’s designed to clean your scalp and any product build-up without stripping your hair of its natural oils. process. I have provided the rest of the Bio Renew series below as a guide:

I’m always someone who maintains a hair routine, whether it’s deep conditioning or wash day. I really wanted to test these products so I skipped the hair treatment for a week and let my hair grow with the product. I’ll be completely honest, it was hard but disgusting to leave my hair unwashed because it started to look so funny that I ended up putting it in a bun to reduce my hair.

Finally the wash day came and I was so ready to wash my hair. Taking a “generous” amount (ha generous for curly hair) I applied it directly to my scalp and hair with the most bulk. It lathers pretty quickly and smells absolutely amazing. It smells more like strawberry than mint, but it doesn’t smell like an explosive strawberry scent, and it’s not sickly at all. Washing it out of my hair was very easy and it was clear that all the product had been removed as it could be seen in the water as I washed it. When the water was clear and no more bubbles, I touched my hair and it felt incredibly soft. My scalp felt very clean and gone. funny feeling and my curls were happy again.
Next was the conditioner, which of course I was very excited to try as I got really good results with the shampoo. On the other hand, when I took a “generous” amount, I spread it all over my hair, making sure to cover all the strands. says you can’t have too much conditioner? I took a wide tooth comb and started detangling my hair and it was actually much easier with this conditioner because it didn’t mattify my hair like some conditioners do. thicker, more like a cream and the smell is much stronger compared to shampoo. I personally don’t find it overpowering at all, and while it still smells more like strawberry, you are more aware of the minty conditioner. It was very easy to wash out again, leaving my hair feeling much more moisturized, soft and surprisingly a little bit clearer. As I always do after washing my hair, I follow up with a curling cream to add that definition. .
Below are photos taken throughout the day showing the changes in my hair, and you may also notice the change in lipstick:

12:00 PM: This is my hair still a little damp but starting to dry after 30 minutes in the sun. I had a busy day ahead of me too, testing out new makeup products and being busy, so it was interesting to see how long my curls stayed happy.
6:09 PM: This is my hair about 6 hours after the first photo and it’s still very defined and shiny. I wanted to shoot it in natural lighting so you can see how shiny it looks. There was also some blurring, which was mostly due to me constantly touching them (anxiety issues!). My hair is also prone to frizz (especially on wash day) but it wasn’t as bad as usual and since my curls were happy I didn’t need to reapply curling cream as my curls were still moisturized and defined, and I don’t. I don’t want to risk my hair feeling sticky with too much product.
23:00: Last hair update of the day, 5 hours since the previous picture. I spent most of the day running around, chasing my pets, testing out new makeup, playing/raging at Crash Bandicoot, and letting my hair down. I am so shocked at how my curls are still so defined and feel incredibly soft. On the left side of the picture you can see that I have some foam, which again is because I keep twirling it behind my ear and the strawberry scent is still a little noticeable, but barely noticeable compared to what it was a few hours ago. before
Jojoba Oil & Lavender Curly Hair Line
Both retail at £5.99 but are often on sale for £2.98 which was the price I paid for them. Do I pay full price? If I continue to get the same results as the first time, then yes, because I have paid more for luxury brands that never achieved those results. You also get 400ml which is perfect for me as far as shampoo goes but if you have thick curly hair like me you need at least 750ml-1000ml of conditioner for us. I have nothing negative to say about these and I think they will be a huge hit with those with the same curl type.

Something about the mango flavor didn’t appeal to me. But sitting alone for six months (and getting a produce box that sends you a random assortment of fruits and vegetables every other week, along with a disproportionate number of mangoes) will make you change your ways anyway. I suddenly want to eat tropical fruits and I love this hair care duo. Call it exposure therapy.
The shampoo and conditioner not only smell like mango, they turn your shower experience into a brief beach moment. Both formulas contain mango extract. Rich in vitamins A and C, it helps to improve shine and strengthen and nourish hair.

Special products. Shampoos should be moisturizing so they settle and soften as they cleanse. After washing, my hair must basically feel like I’ve used conditioner – even though it was definitely shampoo. Herbal Essences Aloe Mango Power Shampoo checks these aloe fields.
When used as a skin conditioner, “the pulp of the aloe plant is rich in water, soothing and moisturizing,” Joshua Zeichner, director of cosmetic and clinical research in dermatology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, previously said. . The same goes for hair. The powerful aloe and mango shampoo is also sulfate- and paraben-free, so you won’t be left with that squeaky film that convinces your hair it’s clean, even though it’s just been stripped of moisture. It still lathers though, which I like because my brain may or may not be programmed to believe that’s what should happen when you wash your hair.
Soft because my curls forget how to define if so. Also, the conditioner can’t be too heavy with oils or my hair will feel heavy. Aloe steps up to the plate again with the Herbal Essences Potent Aloe & Mango Conditioner, which gives my hair a light yet effective hydration boost. It’s basically a gel moisturizer of balms.
Curl Talk With Herbal Essences
Together with Herbal Essences Potent Aloe & Mango Shampoo & Conditioner, the shampoo and conditioner create a soft, smooth base for styling cream or curl gel. (I’m partial to the 2020 Best of Beauty winner Curls, so def Vitamin C Curl Defining Jelly.) My hair always feels soft and clean.
